All children and young people have the potential to enable a bright and prosperous future for our country. Nearly one-third of India’s population is under the age of 15 years. Many factors may hamper their potential because a sizeable number of India's young people live in poverty, are semi literate and unskilled, and are at risk of preventable, yet weakening diseases and fatal infections.
The safety of children is the paramount responsibility of all those raising, living and working with children and society at large. Through this micro-site, Healthy India is trying to create consciousness among Indian parents, grandparents, teachers, care givers and even health professionals, to raise healthy citizens of tomorrow.
We will take you across topics of children’s health and safety delving into maternal health, nutrition and feeding habits, immunization, timely medical attention, knowledge about common ailments and first-aid pertaining to a child’s health care and well being, to begin at home.
Identifying developmental milestones is of great interest to new parents and caregivers, but these often cause worry, when they are perceived to be ‘too late’. However, developmental milestones in a child are:
• Continuous
• Interrelated
• Cumulative
• A product of interaction with the environment
Give your child the time to grow. There may be times when you feel that signs of growth are not clear. Relax! But, share and seek help if you feel that things are not progressing as they should be.
