Fostering a supportive environment

We need a supportive environment

Even as we make personal choices to become more physically active, we also need a supportive environment in workplaces, schools, and community settings:

  • Safe pedestrian paths. Prevent encroachment of pedestrian paths.
  • Trees for shade on pedestrian pathways encourage people to walk.Trees increase oxygen levels, clean the environment and provide shade.
  • Protected cycle lanes. This will encourage more people to cycle.
  • Parks and playgrounds in residential areas.
  • Playgrounds + sports equipment in schools, colleges and other institutions.
  • Protected time for school sports.
  • Worksite facilities for physical activity & sports.
